Technology
The system is written in PHP and uses MySQL as the database. We do not believe these technologies are optimal but they do make it easy and quick to deploy, manage and fix bugs on running websites.
The presentation layer uses XML and XSLT. This may not be the most hip technology but enables things like easy versioning, export/import and ensures complete separation of data and presentation.
We have a strong focus on the user interface and less on advanced features.
